Albert E. Grott, 84, of Union Mills, passed away on October 12, 2017..  He was born on July 23, 1933, in Michigan City, to Lawrence and Cecilia Grott, who both preceded him in death.  On June 9, 1958, in LaPorte, he married Carol Cummins.  Albert owned and worked at his own mechanic shop, Grott’s Repair Shop, in Union Mills for many years.  He also served his country by enlisting in the Army and working as an engineer during the Korean War.  Recently he enjoyed spending his days doing puzzles and working in his garden. 

He is survived by his children Christine (James) Forrester of Florida, Roger (Judy) Grott of Union Mills, Teresa (Mark) McDerrmot of Michigan City, and Jeff (Gloria) Grott of Union Mills.  He is also survived by his siblings, Norman Grott, Richard Grott, John Grott, Frances Muller  and Sue Bishop, and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence Grott. There will be a memorial celebration of life on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Union Mills Conservation Club from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
