Barbara M. Schmidt, 91, of Michigan City, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, in Michigan City.  She was born on September 19, 1925 in Michigan City to Joseph and Sophia Kintzele. She was a loving mother of three children, George Schmidt of IN, Georgia ”Penny” (Rob) Clayton of WI, who survive.  She is survived by beloved grandchildren, Vicki Clayton of Chicago, and Zachary (Sarah) Clayton of CT.  Also survived by 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Arnold M. Schmidt, her daughter Rose A. Philbeck, and 8 brothers and sisters. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 17th at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Michigan City.   Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of mass on Wednesday.
