James Gresham, 66, of LaPorte, passed away on June 24, 2016, surrounded by his family. On April 20, 1950, Michigan City, he was born to Edgar and Mildred (Bentley) Gresham. On May 14, 2010, in LaPorte, he Married Deborah Finney, who survives. James worked as a service representative for many years for Joy Manufacturing and Sullair.
He served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was also a member of the V.F.W. # 2536 and the D.A.V. #23.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Angela) Gresham of Michigan City, Tonya Baxley of Fishers, Brian (Alison) Gresham of Kingsford Heights, and Amanda “Toni” (Jon) Nebelung of LaPorte.
James is also survived by; sisters Patricia Sloan of Kokomo, Jackie Wolff of Arizona, and Suzie Nauman of Texas, mother-in-law Barbara Finney, 9 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Newhard Funeral Home from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Newhard Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
