Violet Lillian Glassford, 90, of Westville, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 in Michigan City.  She was born April 28, 1926 in Fayetteville Tennessee to Joseph and Marie (Hrebik) Smisek. On January 24, 2006 she married William E. Glassford, Jr. who passed away December 7, 2006.  Violet is survived by her daughter Phyllis Jean (Art) Lapczynski of Rolling Prairie, her granddaughters Gina Marie (Scott) DeMeyer and Michelle Ann Lapczynski, three great grandsons Alvie Arthur, Bronson, and Drake and five great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her great grandson Dustin, her sisters Charlotte Hunsley and Mary Lilly Smisek and her brother Joseph George Smisek.  Violet was a licensed professional tailor.  She was owner of the V.I.P. Beauty Supply in Westville and was employed at Hi Fashion Beauty Products in Michigan City.  For many years she owned and operated Schneider’s Dry Cleaning and Tailoring in Westville.  A memorial service will take place at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, June 15th at the American Legion Post #21 in Westville. Refreshments and fellowship with the family will follow after the service. Memorial contributions in memory of Violet can be made to St. Anthony Hospice, 1225 E. Coolspring Ave., Michigan City, IN 46360. Newhard Funeral Home in Westville is in charge of arrangements.
