Mary Louise (Firanek) Janatik

Mary L. Janatik, 91 of Michigan City, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023. She was born September 21, 1932 in Valparaiso to Frank and Rosalie (Hock) Firanek. On October 13, 1956 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis she married Paul P. Janatik who passed away January 10, 2015. Mary is survived by her sons Paul (Crystal) Kitto of Wisconsin, James (Julie) Janatik, George (Julie) Janatik, John (Gail) Janatik, Thomas Janatik, Timothy Janatik, Paul S. Janatik and Dennis (Beth) Janatik all of Otis; and her daughters Cathy (late John) Bruning of Otis and Karen (Dave) Pahl of Otis; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three   great great grandchildren. Two sisters Lucille Firanek of Michigan City and Alice Firanek of Westville; and many nieces and nephews also survive her.  In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son Daniel, her parents, her sisters Olive Pradziad and Joann Jones; and her brothers Albert and Edward Firenek. Mary was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis and was a retired administrative assistant for the former Beatty Memorial Hospital and Westville Correctional Center. A funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 29th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis.  Rev. John Zemelko will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-7 PM at Newhard Funeral Home in Westville. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Otis. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis.
