Alice Ileta Shreves, 90, of Union Mills, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017, at home. She was born April 23, 1927, in Medaryville the daughter of Chris and Irinda Linback. On September 20, 1945, in Francesville, she married James B. Shreves, who preceded her in death. Alice is survived by her children, James “Butch” Shreves Jr of LaPorte, Sheryl (Martin) Van Meter of Kewanna, Linda (Todd) Snyder of Union Mills, Debra (Joe) Hughes of Hamlet, Ronda (Gary) Carr of Westville, Barbara (Mark) Grott, of Union Mills, Teresa (Jim) Konowitz of Texas, Donita (Mike) Rosentreter of LaPorte, Jamie (David) Howell of Union Mills, 47 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Jeff Hughes, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Shreves and her 12 brothers and sisters. Alice was a member of Wanatah American Legion Aux. Post 403, Union Mills Fire Aux., Leader of 4H and Girl & Boy Scouts, Retired from South Central School. Well- known for her cooking, she was regularly called “Mom” or “Grandma” by many. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017, 2 - 4:00 p.m. at Wanatah Christian Church, 11978 South 1100 West Wanatah. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 28, at 4:00 p.m. at Wanatah Christian Church, with Craig Culver officiating. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery, Union Mills. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family for a memorial paver.
