Timothy Gilliam Obituary

Timothy Wayne Gilliam, 70 of Westville, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 18, 1947 in Cumberland, Kentucky to Arthur and Mozella (Halcomb) Gilliam. On December 18, 1971 in Valparaiso, he married Ellen "Ellie" Bowles who survives. Also surviving Tim is his son Keith Alden Gilliam of Escanaba, Michigan, two grandchildren Heather and Kelsey, his sisters Dosalee Morris of Pontiac, Michigan, Dana (David) Lewis of Corbin, Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his daughters Angela Renee Lemert and Julie Ann Gilliam, his parents, his brothers Willard "Booster" Gilliam, Donald Gilliam, Douglas Gilliam, and his sister Marcella Saylor. Tim was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Michigan City and the American Legion Post #21 in Westville. He was a Viet Nam War veteran and worked at Bethlehem Steel (later Mittal Steel) from which he retired from in 2010.  Tim enjoyed spending time with his boys and fishing. He was loved dearly by his wife of 46 years and by his extended family. Services for Tim will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 24th at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W. Walnut St. in Westville.  Pastors Terry and Kevin McKinney will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM on Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to go to a charity of their choice.
