Hilda Irene (Casselman) Gettys

Hilda Irene Gettys, 100,  of LaPorte, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021. She was born November 12, 1920 in DeKalb, County, Indiana to Lester and Minnie “Hazel” (Erwin) Casselman. On August 26, 1939 in Waterloo, Indiana she married Harold D. Gettys who passed away January 9, 1990. Hilda is survived by her children Carol Mills and Ronald (Mary Jane) Gettys both of LaPorte, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and her sister Patricia Fuentes of Kendallville, Indiana. In addition to her husband and parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her son Michael, her sister Pearl Weinhold and half brother Larry. She was a member of Great Faith Baptist Church in Michigan City and the Phoebe Rebecca Lodge #706 in Chesterton.  Many years ago, she was also a Den Mother for the Westville Cub Scouts and a 4-H Leader. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 12th at Newhard Funeral Home in Westville. Pastor Paul Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
