Jessie Eugene Daugherty was born September 16, 1952 in La Porte, IN to Clyde and LaMarion(Mary)Daugherty. He graduated from Westville High School in 1971 where he played sousaphone in the band and basketball. Jess was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic in the 7th Cavalry in Germany.
He married Debra(Keplar) Daugherty on August 23, 1980 in Westville. She survives along with their children Patrick and Kelly. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ben and Chuck.
He worked for 20 years at Weil-McLain in Michigan City as a core setter until health issues caused an early retirement.
When he was able he enjoyed visiting the Indiana State Parks with his family and walking the trails. Later he enjoyed bird watching and growing tomatoes. He enjoyed reading about paranormal phenomena, baseball statistics and general facts and figures and had an impressive recall of this knowledge. He had a creative mind, was quick witted, and was able to perform impressive feats of mental mathematics. He was a lifelong White
Sox fan who never went anywhere without his Sox hat. He was loved by his family and friends.
