Karen Lynn (Otter) Nichols

Karen Lynn Nichols, 62, passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2021. Karen was born May 5, 1959, in Valparaiso, IN, to Jessie (Norma) Otter. Karen worked at Valparaiso University for 13 years and was recently promoted to Assistant Director of Annual Giving Programs. She also worked with the 5th-6th grade girls basketball team at Westville for eight years and coached middle/high school poms at Westville. Karen loved spending time with her family, raising goats, cooking/baking, and traveling.

Karen is survived by her loving husband Brian Nichols and her children Lexi (Anthony) Sansone of Westville and Lacey Nichols of La Porte. She is also survived by Dick and Jean Bartmess of La Porte. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie (Norma) Otter of La Porte, and loving friends, Barb and Frank Sommers of La Porte.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Westville United Methodist Church at 154 W. Main St. in Westville, IN 46391 on Saturday, November 20, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please select an angel from a Giving Tree at a local charity of your choosing to spread some holiday cheer, as Karen loved giving during the holiday season.
