MELVILLE CECIL FATH JR. Westville, Indiana, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, in Michigan City. He was born June 14, 1935, in Hammond, Indiana, to Melville and Mary (Haviley) Fath, Sr. On January 28, 1956, in Schererville, he married Thelma Karsten. His wife, Thelma Fath, survives him and resides in Westville. Melville is also survived by his daughter, Sheree (Ronald) Warnke of LaPorte, son Gary (Annette) Fath of LaPorte, brother Richard (Marilyn) Fath, grandchildren: Michael (Erin) Warnke, Elizabeth (Scott) Romanchek, Steven (Jennifer) Warnke, Thomas (Alysha) Fath, Mary (Nathaniel) Burnett, Douglas (Jessica) Warnke, Daniel (Nora) Warnke and Ryan Fath, and great-grandchildren: Noelle, Willa, Aiden, Olivia, Ella, Charles, Makenzie, Samuel, Finley, Adalyn, Milo, and Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Melville Fath, Sr., brother Robert Fath, and brother Kenneth Fath.
He was the original owner of New Durham Estates, a family-owned and operated manufactured housing community in Westville. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis, Westville Lion’s Club, Westville Area Chamber of Commerce, Indiana Manufactured Home Association, and actively supported the Westville community. Mel served many different roles in the Lion's Club for over 50 years, including club president and past district governor. He was inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in 2002 after serving 25 years as a member and past president of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Manufactured Housing Association. He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, boating, traveling, and visiting Florida. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
