Richard T. Sobieski

Richard T. Sobieski, 74 of Michigan City, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020. He was born November 20, 1945 in LaPorte, Indiana to Joseph and Julie (Amborski) Sobieski. On May 18, 1968 in Otis, he married Connie Firanek who survives. Richard is also survived by his daughters Stacy (John) Marshall and Sandy (Jeremy) Sobieski-Stein, his grandchildren Brooke Baucom, Taylor Baucom, Sarah Weston, Grace Weston, Cade Marshall and his great granddaughter Claire Bancroft. Preceding him in death are his parents and special sister Eleanor Loniewski (who raised him) and three other brothers and sisters. Richard was a lifelong Cubs fan and worked at Bethlehem Steel. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 25, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis. Rev. Jerry Schweitzer will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM at the church on Thursday, until the time of mass. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Newhard Funeral Home in Westville is in charge of arrangements.
