Vernon Jones

Vernon Jones, 87 of Westville, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 in Valparaiso. He was born February 3, 1935 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Willie and Lillie Belle (Owens) Jones. On May 9, 1959 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis, he married Joan Firanek who passed away in 1988. Vernon is survived by his son Rick (Jean) Jones of Kingsford Heights, his grandchildren Dustin, Austin and Donna Jones all of Florida, his sisters Doris Taylor and Lucille Jones of Spartansburg, South Carolina; many nieces, nephews and in-laws. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sons Larry and Michael; and his brothers Paul, Ernest, and Charles. Vernon was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as a meat cutter at Save-Mor for approximately 40 years. Visitation for Vernon will be from 5-7 PM Friday, November 11th at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W. Walnut St. in Westville. Graveside services will be on Saturday, 11:00 AM,
