Richard “Red” Thompson 83, of Westville, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016. He was born June13, 1933 in Brims, Indiana to Ransom Leroy and Inez Eve (Rea) Thompson. On June 13, 1953 in South Bend, he married Joyce Lee Shanks who passed away July 31, 2008. In February of 2010, he married Juanita “Jay” Mae Siprak who passed away November 12, 2014. Richard is survived by his children Richard M. (Agnes “Sis”) Thompson, Georgia (Orville) Stacy, and Julie (Kevin) Parker all of LaPorte, his grandchildren John Paul, Ashley, Taylor, Jessica, and Daniel, and three great grandchildren John Thomas, Charlie Elizabeth, and Sierra Lee Rea. In addition to both of his wives, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Vivian and brothers Abel and John Paul. He was a member of the Westville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Masonic Lodge Council Oak #745, The Sunday Farmers Club, The Florida Fly Wheelers Club, Past President of the Westville Lions Club, N.I.A.T.P.A. and was a founding member of the Westville Pumpkin Festival. Richard was retired from Richard Thompson Leasing that he owned for many years with his wife Joyce. Funeral services will be on at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 23rd at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W. Walnut St. in Westville. Norm Tyson will officiate. Burial will be in Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 PM at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:00 PM.
